About

I was born in Tingo Maria – Peru, located in the country’s Amazon. I studied Biology at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (Peru), a Master’s in Biology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (in The Muchhala Lab), and a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California Santa Cruz (in the Kay Plant Evolution Lab).

I am passionate about my work as a researcher. I’m interested in the ecology and evolution of plant-pollinator interactions. I have conducted research about nectar-bat and plant interactions in Peru and Ecuador. For my Ph.D., I studied the genus Costus (Costaceae) and its bee and hummingbird pollinators in Costa Rica and Peru.

Also, I have a strong commitment to contribute to the professional development of Latin American students, especially students interested in science. I volunteer for the Research Experience for Peruvian Undergraduates Program (REPU), where I lead the admissions of the ecoREPU branch and I mentor students to help them achieve their professional dreams.

During my free time, I enjoy going writing, reading, and cooking. I also like outdoor activities like hiking or biking. I love being surrounded by nature.
